Job Summary:

The Sales Trainee is an entry level position designed to develop dynamic, high potential candidates who are interested in pursuing a successful career in value-added food ingredient/ flavors sales.  The Sales Trainee Program is designed to provide a well-rounded, thorough understanding of the specialty value-added applications within our organization and to systematically grow and develop talent over a 2-3 year period, in preparation to eventually become a successful Account Manager.

The Sales Trainee will be given rotational assignments that serve various functions, and will receive increasing responsibilities with client interaction and eventually transition into a full-time sales role. The Program will provide sequential on-the-job experience, job shadowing and opportunities to practice skills and receive leadership and sales coaching.

  • Majority of time spent in Technical/R&D areas, but will also consist of rotations within Customer Service, Operations, Marketing, Regulatory, Purchasing, Finance, and ongoing sales shadowing.
  • The incumbent will receive ongoing progress support and evaluation to ensure requirements and objectives are met. 
  • Sales Trainee will receive leadership coaching to enhance necessary skills needed for success in the role of Sales Account Manager, including: Organizing and leading a meeting, facilitation skills, project management skills, active listening, developing presentations, public speaking, negotiation skills, and conflict resolution.



  • We seek highly-energetic academic achievers that have strong technical acumen, but who are interested in pursuing the commercial and business side of the industry. Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering or related field are preferred.
  • We will also consider candidates with 1-3 years of relevant education and work experience.
  • The ideal candidate will be an outgoing, highly-ambitious risk taker who has demonstrated leadership ability and prior involvement in extracurricular activities, internships, or other work experience. Prior experience in customer service or sales is a plus. Excellent communication and people skills are required.
  • This position will be based out of our Hoffman Estates, IL location, but will require some travel within the US, so flexibility and availability is essential.
  • Upon successful completion of the Training Program, the Sales Trainee will transition into a permanent Sales Account Manager position, and must be willing to permanently relocate within their assigned geographical territory.
