JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Regulatory Affairs Specialist for Sensient Flavors Group will assure compliance of Sensient Technologies products with appropriate regulations and to serve as a regulatory resource to internal and external customers. This position maintains technical databases related to raw materials, formulas, and finished products.  This position will need to understand, respect, and act ethically when dealing with matters related to regulatory compliance.

 

By the nature of this role, this employee is frequently involved in the preparation of highly confidential information and high priority regulatory activities.  Work accuracy is essential; therefore, the ability to comprehend and interpret the regulatory requests and associated data is extremely critical in this role.  This position supports the Regulatory Compliance Department by preparation of critical information for submission to Sensient’s entire customer base, both domestic and international. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Utilize DevEx system to create, review, and approve standardized regulatory documents for internal and external customers. Turnaround time of documentation is crucial for business needs and will be a key performance indicator.  Standard documents will include, but won’t be limited to, Technical Data Sheets, Allergens, Nutritionals, NAFTA, GMO, Halal, and % Breakdowns. 
  • Supply data to the Technical Information Coordinator for completion of customer questionnaires that are not covered in the standard documents in the DevEx system.
  • Utilize multiple computer platforms in order to feed regulatory information into required systems.  The Regulatory platform is DevEx and MS Office, and the supporting source data systems include AS400 (BPCS) and JD Edwards.
  • Provide Information to facilities that are pertinent to label generation.  This includes, but is not limited to ingredient statements, certifications, and allergen information.
  • Maintain files related to all Regulatory information, both electronic and hard copy.
  • Assist with organization and maintenance of the Kosher Certificate Program.
  • Supports internal customers (including Customer Service, Sales, Research & Development, Quality Assurance) by serving as subject matter expert in assigned areas by interpreting regulations, providing information to address external customer needs, providing guidance in the development of products to internal customers by accurately maintaining product information databases.
  • Supports external customers by providing routine and standard technical information in areas of subject matter expertise/core technology.  Serves as a secondary resource for non-routine or confidential information disclosure.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

 

  • A minimum of a B.S. Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or related field
  • 2-5 years of food industry-related experience in regulatory affairs
  • Must have proficient computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office and ability to learn the DevEx regulatory software.  Strong organizational and math skills and the ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently are mandatory.  This position will also require reading of technical documents and having the ability to understand and interpret them.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively – written and verbal - with a variety of internal and external contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and handle multiple tasks in an effective manner.
  • Attention to detail is essential for this position.
  • Must be able to develop the ability to review, interpret and summarize technical information.
  • Travel may be required on a non-routine basis.
