Production Operator, Canada, Natural Extraction

 Job Summary

This individual will receive verbal and written work instructions daily in order to manufacture product. A variety of products are processed according to detailed written work instructions.  All materials must be weighed accurately on scales & all process data must be recorded.  Materials must be manually loaded and discharged from the process equipment. Good housekeeping, intelligent use of process equipment & adherence to GMP’s, SOPs and Safety Procedures are essential for success.


  • Weigh & charge raw materials. Verify unit scales calibration before use.

  • Operate all process equipment including blenders, mixers, mills, dryers, etc. to agreed standard and follow operation specification requirements.

  • Perform in process quality analysis tests. Report & record anomalies to supervisor.

  • Weigh & label finished product. Verify unit scales calibration before use.

  • Clean process equipment & work area as per agreed and standardized procedures. Plant Area & Equipment must be maintained in a state of ‘audit readiness’ each and every day.

  • Accurately complete all production and quality documentation including Pre-Operation & Post-Operation Checklists and other documentation related to raw material and finished product traceability, reconciliation, yield and productivity measurements. Operator is responsible for corrective actions in the case of variance against standard requirements.

  • Follow written & verbal operating procedures

  • Operate & maintain equipment according to safety, food safety, productivity, environmental and GMP standards.

  • Participate in company preventative maintenance (PM) program & initiatives.

  • Participate in continuous improvement programs.

  • Flexibility to work afternoon and evening shifts.

 Skills and Requirements

  • Ability to work on feet for 8hr shifts and willing to work up to 12 hours

  • Flexible to work OT when requested

  • Comfortable lifting up to 50lbs during repetitive and non-repetitive tasks

  • Mechanically inclined with a minimum of 3 years “hands on” experience working as a machine operator/technician preferably in a production environment or a post-secondary education in a relevant field

  • Familiarity with ISO certifications and Good Manufacturing Processes

  • Results oriented, able to work as part of a functional team

 Education & Experience

  •  High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience in chemical manufacturing, advanced dairy/ beverage and/or ingredient manufacturing environment (2-4 years) is preferred.

  • Requires interaction with different disciplines, good communication skills oral and written as well as good interpersonal skills are a must.

  • 4th or 5th class power engineering certificate in BC preferred
