Position Summary:

Support the Color Division initiatives in the areas of Engineering, Process Improvement, and Manufacturing Technology.  Provide engineering design and project management expertise in the design, construction, and start-up of capital projects throughout the Color Group.  Directly coordinate or provide project oversight of outside engineering and construction firms on capital project executions.  Assist as needed in trouble shooting equipment and process problems.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support as assigned to Color Group manufacturing sites.
  • Assume project manager responsibilities for global capital projects as assigned.  Design and specify installation requirements for new processes or modifications to existing processes.  Monitor & report on capital projects for adherence to budget and advise manager promptly of any deviations or issues that will impact costs.  Manage various trades during projects to insure proper building construction and installation of equipment occurs on schedule.  Monitor schedule and update as necessary to keep company management informed of potential delays.  Assist plant personnel in training and start-up of completed systems.
  • Perform preliminary engineering definition and conceptual design, or supervise external engineering design firms in such activities for various Color facility projects including designing modifications to existing buildings, equipment, and processes. This includes equipment sizing and specification, equipment and facility layout alternatives, control systems, securing quotations and final project cost estimation for CAR.
  • Directly supervise or provide project oversight of outside engineering and construction firms on major capital project executions.
  • Support the effort to standardize equipment and construction methods where feasible throughout the Color Group.
  • Oversee testing, and introduction of new process equipment technology.
  • Assist the various site engineering and operations teams in the development and execution of division capital initiatives.
  • Assist in coordinating the Group’s Five Year Facility Planning process. 

Knowledge, skills, abilities

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering (Ch.E. or M.E.) required,
  • 7-10 years of combined plant/process engineering and project management experience, preferably in the Global Food, Pharmaceutical or specialty chemical sector. 
  • Good knowledge of sanitary design standards and working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communicator with strong cross division/function team leadership skills.
  • A highly-motivated self-starter who is able to think independently, yet work as a team player.
  • Ability to travel internationally (30%).
  • Second language is a plus.
