Corporate Director Procurement

Supply Chain
005044 Requisition #

When you are a relentless pursuer of hard cost savings, and conditioned to achieve results in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, you should talk with us about the challenge of building a global corporate procurement function to maximize our business results.

In this key leadership role, your overarching responsibility will be to design and implement a centralized structure for a best-in-class global procurement function, and at all times model - and demand of the team - determination, tenacity, and the zealous pursuit of real savings.

Partnering with existing purchasing teams in our Flavors, Colors, and APAC groups, you will be expected to execute on strategic sourcing initiatives, develop supplier relationships that drive value for Sensient’s businesses, and foster strong collaboration between procurement, R&D, marketing, manufacturing, and other internal stakeholders.

Our expectations on how you achieve this big goal:

  • You are a master in gaining influence amongst internal stakeholders, some of which do not report to you. Your exceptional communication skills, hands-on approach and networking excellence support you in gaining cross-functional buy-in for your initiatives, as well as being a reliable partner to our legal group for the construct of all formal contracts.
  • You will identify and execute plans to reduce raw material costs in year one against measurable targets, and identify other cost reductions/operational efficiencies such as transportation/freight and working capital enhancements.
  • Within your first six months on the job, you will become a strong, accepted leader for the existing team and secure a smooth continuation of the on-going activities. In addition, you will create a strategic plan for the integration of our other business units into this new, global procurement structure.
  • Establish reporting criteria: create and publish monthly purchasing reports, provide tracking of Cost Saving Initiatives (CSI) and report progress against the CSI objectives in association with the Purchasing Incentive Plans.
  • Build strong relationships by working with business unit purchasing staff to develop in-depth market/category understanding, which allows the business to anticipate material cost trends, develop tactical and strategic plans to respond to those trends, and – as such - posture the Company for success.

To be successful in this role, we ask you to bring to the table:

  • A winning mindset!

  • Proven success in building influence and a bold negotiation strategy.

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in purchasing, operations, and senior management, ideally in a start-up, entrepreneurial, or M&A context, which enables you to successfully organize and conduct consolidated contract negotiations, capital purchasing negotiations as well as negotiations for logistics services and other indirect purchases.

  • A thorough understanding of business and financial issues related to purchasing in a customer, quality oriented, and manufacturing environment, ideally supported by a BSc in Business, Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry or similar discipline.

  • MRP management knowledge/experience.
